24 Hours in the Midwest

What a difference a day makes!

This photo was taken yesterday by a photographer friend of mine. Just 24 hours ago the local farmers were putting the finishing touches on harvest time! (And I'm sure a little snow didn't put a stop to their work today!)

Today THIS is what we woke up to! Temperatures promise to remain in the teens for the foreseeable future. It was 63 degrees yesterday. Today's high? 20! And WINDY!!!!

A mix of green grass, autumn leaf, and wintry snow!

The beauty of fall is now filed away as a rich and vivid memory. Here are some of the last glimpses of autumn in my fair town!

Corners of Grandview and 14th Streets.

Nebraska Street

Tree at St. Thomas Community Garden - Pierce Street.

Trees on the corner of my childhood park. Isabella Street. Good memories all...hot pad anyone?

Tree up the street from my house! Corner of Pawnee Place and Indian Hills Dr.

Right around the corner from the local mechanic/gas station. Corner of Jones and 35th Streets. Love the contrast of "skeleton trees" green leaves, evergreen and POP of color!

And then there are these PINKISH tones of lovely on the corners of Jackson and 27th Streets.

My days of tree stalking are over....watch for SNOW PHOTOS in the very near future! And by the way...I do have a card to yak about!

  1. Um......that's a terrific drop in temperature!!! WOW! Stay warm up that way! The fall trees are again so beautiful and I'm going to miss seeing them - however, bring on the snow pictures any time you want! We VERY seldom get to see snow down this far and I just love looking at the pictures everyone posts in the winter. I know y'all probably get a little tired of it all winter long but I'd love to see it!

Your card is so pretty Nancy! The design is just sensational and I really need to try something like that. Very pretty flowers and I can see the dimension from here!
